Modeling of the population evolution of the invasive species monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) in a municipality of the Barcelona pre-coastal area to provide advice on species management to municipal technicians and involved organizations.
A mathematical model of population growth was developed, the potential effects of different actions on the parakeet population were assessed, and a comprehensive report was produced, offering guidelines on what actions to take and avoid for the population management of the monk parakeet, considering geographic, contextual, efficiency, and animal welfare criteria.
