Development of an animal welfare assessment protocol for psittacidae

I have developed an animal welfare monitoring and evaluation protocol focused on psittacidae, which I have had the opportunity to implement in the zoo and animal shelter setting.

This program includes the definition of detailed guidelines and directives, as well as the establishment of animal welfare indicators with which to systematically evaluate the health and quality of life of the monitored animals. In this way, all the team's keepers are able to participate and provide data on this matter in a consistent manner, minimizing the effect of each individual's possible personal biases.

In addition to physical and environmental aspects, this protocol also takes into consideration behavioral indicators, which allow for the identification of possible problems and deficiencies in the welfare of the animals through the recording and analysis of their behavior.
